Ascend Your Start Up, Chapter 2

Yu discusses a Minimal Viable Product (MVP) in the second chapter. She quotes Eric Ries in removing anything that does not contribute (to the learning you seek), but can also be applied to the project. A comparison with bringing the bare minimum on a climb up Mt Everest.

In applying this to myself as a project, I applied the following decisions from the book with my answers:

#6: What is your minimal viable project? Yu states the product must be marketable. So, am I marketable? Yes, I am as is everyone else. Many people apply marketability to an actual product, but are we not selling ourselves whenever we apply for a job, go on a date, meet someone new, etc... So, I am marketable in that I am a good nurse and a great leader. In exploring the viability Yu asks who cares about the problem that needs resolution, who else can solve the problem, and what type of team is needed to achieve your vision. Due to a nursing shortage many healthcare institutions are continually looking for ways to retain their staff, other administration can help to solve the problem (which has notoriously not worked for a long time), and the team that is needed is a supportive administration.

#7: How will you pilot your product? Here Yu makes a great analogy in, "avoid boiling the ocean." In short, start small. How are small ways I can start. First, I need to address issues and problems that can be seen and discussed among those in healthcare. While this blog is for class, I have decided that along with this, I should post more on LinkedIn, as well as connect with more member of the nursing community and healthcare in general. Yu also specifies creating a hypothesis and how I will solve that problem. My hypotheses will be posted on LinkedIn as a post. With this I hope that with current and future connections reading this post it will help people to provide answers on how I look at problems and how they can be resolved. Feel free to connect with me!

As there was no 8th chapter in this book I opted to do an overall review.  In short: I loved this book. My favorite of the three we needed ...
